Le
Guet: the Guardian of time.
Here in the heart of this area, in Neuchatel to be precise, Le Guet was founded
- a dynamic producer with an equal penchant for innovation and drawing
the best advantage from the heritage of historical tradition and
handcrafting acquired over the centuries. This tradition is evoked
from the very name and trademark itself: Le
Guet, or rather "The Guard", the world's first
and only human time-keepe. Ever since 1405, a person has climbed the steps to the top of the highest tower of the Cathedral of Lausanne, where to the four points of the compass he would shout the hours of the day to the populace below. Today, the modern Le Guet have remained a symbol of the tenacity of this peoplewhile adapting themselves to the changing times. Although they no longer use the clumsy megaphone adopted in the XVIII Century that appears in the Le Guet "Maison" logos, the tradition is still paid the same scrupulous respect, to the proud honour of the citizenry. |
